Vietnamese Cold Brew Coffee

Looking for something a little extra in your coffee routine this summer? Why not try making Vietnamese Cold Brew Coffee?

What is Vietnamese Coffee? Vietnamese Coffee is a strong and rich coffee mixed with sweetened condensed milk and served either hot or over ice. Typically Vietnamese Coffee is made using hot water with a small drip filter placed over the cup, but we’re going to be using cold brew coffee in this recipe for a smoother brew and refreshing twist.

Why? What is the difference between hot brewed and cold-brewed coffee? The biggest difference between hot brewed coffee and cold brew is in the acidity levels. Hot water extracts more acids and oils from the coffee beans, resulting in a sometimes acidic, harsher flavor. Cold brewing uses room temperature and produces coffee with much lower acidity levels and thus a smoother, chocolatey, nutty taste.

We use the Vinci Express Cold Brew to quickly make the cold brew coffee called for in this recipe so we can have it whenever the craving hits. The result is a smooth, rich, and slightly sweet coffee that we can love over ice for a summertime treat.

To make Vietnamese Cold Brew Coffee, you will need:

-Vinci Express Cold Brew Coffee Maker

-8 scoops of medium ground coffee* using the included scoop

-Fresh fileted water (about 1 L)

-Sweetened condensed milk

-Ice cubes

*We think it is a special treat and adds authentic flavor to use a Vietnamese coffee brand like Trung Nguyen, Highlands, or Saigon Phin Daklak, but any high-quality medium grind dark roasted coffee beans will do.

Directions:

1. Fill the Vinci Express Cold Brew Carafe with fresh, room temperature water. Filtered water is best.

2. Add 8 scoops of coffee grounds to the Vinci Express Cold Brew Coffee Maker Filter.
 3. Place the Control Lid with the attached Filter Basket on the Carafe and select the extra bold brewing option. Watch full brewing instructions

4. Once your cold brew is finished brewing, you can either make a "batch" by whisking 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk into your Vinci Carafe with filled with cold brew, or you can make it a glass at a time by stirring in 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk (per glass) to your cold brew.

5. Serve over ice.
